Supa is the name I gave him.
It comes from Super, or at least how I imagine the Japanese pronunciation of the word.
Supa was first drawn in 2014.
From the very beginning, drawing Supa did not feel like drawing any other character. There was something different about him.
It felt dimensional, like I was not just creating a character but meeting one.
I drew Supa with a theme, with intention, and with a strange sense of familiarity. Over time, a bond formed between me and him.
Not something I could explain easily, not to others and not even to myself.
I started linking Supa to my merch, slowly letting people get to know who he was.
At the same time, I was still discovering him myself.
It was not until I met a psychiatrist that something finally clicked.
They explained that the bond I had with Supa was not random.
Supa was my inner child.
That realization changed everything.
His short hazel hair resembles wood and nature, things I deeply love.
His red cheeks come from my own shyness growing up.
The dark grey short pants represent a darker past, but one that never defined me, which is why they are short and not overwhelming.
The rain boots reflect my love for rain, something calming, honest, and constant in my life.
And finally, the red cape.
The cape matters.
In real life, I have always felt a pull toward helping others, trying to fix, solve, support, and protect when I can.
The cape became a symbol of that instinct.
From that point on, I started drawing Supa more often.
Each version carried a feeling, a memory, or a theme I was living through at the time.
Eventually, Supa became more than a character.
He became a brand.
By creating products under the name Supa and linking them to the character, I wanted people not only to love him as a story but to own something tangible. Something physical.
Something that could live with them, the way Supa lives with me.
